About

Welcome to my website. My name is Philip Newborough. My username is corenominal. I am a geek. I live in Lincoln, England. I have many interests and hobbies. I love to design and develop websites. I love coding free software. I am a GNU/Linux enthusiast and a member of the Lincoln Linux User Group. I love listening to music. I love to read. When I am not doing any of the aforementioned, I enjoy using billion-pound satellites to find Tupperware in the woods. I find said Tupperware with my lovely wife, bobobex, and Daisy the dog.
About this website
corenominal.org is a weblog and personal resource about coding, design, the GNU/Linux operating system and other random stuff. It is also an ongoing experiment in web publishing; I like to think of it as my sandpit area on the web, a place to play around with code and pixels.
This site is powered by Whird, some software I am developing to help create websites. Whird is open source software and is available for free from this site. This site is hosted on the fabulous Linode network. If you are looking for a hosting provider, I can wholeheartedly recommend Linode. I have used their Virtual Private Servers for many years and they really are the best.
The operating system serving this site is Debian GNU/Linux. The key pieces of software used to serve this site are Apache HTTP server, MySQL database server, PHP (server-side, HTML-embedded scripting language) and Bazaar. Debian, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Bazaar are all free software.
